What we like this month...

22 February 2016

This month we....

absolutely love these new products in the shop...

Tellkiddo Bear Face bedding and Laterite fox soft toy by Main Sauvage at The Pippa & Ike Show

Two new brands at The Pippa & Ike Show: Swedish label Tellkiddo and new French label Main Sauvage....we think they go nicely together!

The Bear Face print is well known from the much loved Bear Face storage bags in the Tellkiddo collection, and isn't it just the best print for kids bedding? It is printed on 100% cotton and comes in cot (toddler) bed size and single bed size.

The amazing black and white fox soft toy Laterite is made by hand in France by Main Sauvage. He's a whopping 55 cm tall and would look equally good in a (monochrome) kids bedroom as on the sofa.

enjoyed watching...

Winter's Bone with Jennifer Lawrence

I saw Winter's Bone many years ago on the big screen in The Watershed in Bristol. Dark and heartbreaking, with a gripping performance by the fabulous Jennifer Lawrence, it is so worth watching (again)! If you haven't seen it yet: it's on Netflix here in the UK. It received 4 Oscar Nominations, Jennifer Lawrence really would have deserved one. Grab a beer and a big pack of tissues, you'll need both...

are in love with...

link to webshop with beautiful ceramics by Lucy Kirk

What can I say, sometimes you come across the work of an artist and you fall hard for it. The wonderful ceramics by Lucy Kirk are totally up my street and I'm going to spend all my pocket money in her webshop.

feel inspired by..

Promising new kidswear label girlstalktoboys, designed by the lovely Kelly Ekardt. Kelly debuted with her very first collection for Winter 2016-17 at the Dot to Dot tradeshow and I love the cool, relaxed's casual with a touch of 'Sunday Best', easy pieces with character. Follow Kelly's fab blog if you want to stay tuned.

packed a lot of...

Forest print by Cecilia Pettersson, melamine cups and postcard by Helen Dardik at The Pippa & Ike Show

The Pippa & Ike Show is all about illustrated gifts, toys and homeware for kids & grown-ups.

Bestsellers this week are the monochrome Forest print by Cecilia Pettersson for Fine Little Day, the lovely melamine cups for kids with illustrations by Helen Dardik for PSikhouvanjou and the Girl and Pear boy postcard by Helen Dardik.

Pippa & Ike are crazy about...

BBC documentaries The Life of Mammals Pippa & Ike have just watched the last episode of The Life of Mammals, a serie of BBC documentaries hosted by the ideal grandfather David Attenborough. Absolutely fascinating, I love watching it with them. They have been playing animals for weeks now, inspired by the programmes.

Favourites were the shrew-train (you just have to watch it, it's so funny and cute), all the teeny tiny monkeys and the ever so fascinating technique of the flying squirrels.

There are a few moments where we hid our heads behind a blanket (I don't know about you, but I don't mind so much seeing a tiger chase, catch and eat something...but a monkey doing the same thing with the viciousness of a human who lost the plot, that is a whole different ball-game). There are some moments where you can expect questions like 'why is he on top of her' and 'why does that huge pink worm live on that whale'? And it left me thinking that males from most species really are not much more than hormone driven, reproducing, territorial fighting machines...

Anyway...Pippa and especially Ike highly recommend all the BBC nature documentaries...if you have any questions about how giant fruit bats catch their prey, why a sloth is so slow, or how a pebble frog saves himself from a tarantula: Ike's your man!

If you can't find them on DVD, most are available in the UK on Netflix.
