Kitsch Kitchen is a Dutch brand founded in 1994 by Ingelies Straatemeier. She started of with a market stall of Mexican kitchen items on the famous Noordermarkt in Amsterdam. I used to be one of her customers there in the early days, and stayed one when she opened her first shop filled to the brim with colourful homeware and gifts, and later on a specialised Kitsch Kitchen for Kids shop.
In 2004 the typical Kitsch Kitchen style became so popular that they opened the Kitsch Kitchen Supermercado (megastore) on the Rozengracht in Amsterdam (worth a visit when you are in Amsterdam!)
Kitsch Kitchen is well known for their colourful, happy, retro inspired, kitschy products from countries like Mexico, Thailand and Vietnam...and probably most famous for their oil table cloth with huge colourful flowers. The flower baskets and paper flower crown are very popular gifts for little girls. The tumble dolls are a design classic and make a great newborn baby gift. The cut-out Mexican garlands are made of plastic and are perfect to decorate a Summer party outside. I am happy to be one of their customers and to be able to offer you these lovely sparkly happy spots of colour for your interior.
